Wisconsin is facing a number of structural demographic and economic changes that will affect communities across the state.  In particular, the state’s slow rate of population growth, its shifting industry structure and an increasing share of residents approaching retirement age will influence labor availability, job growth, housing and transportation demand, school enrollment and health care needs throughout Wisconsin. Despite these oncoming challenges, there are opportunities for communities and regions to use their assets and comparative advantages to address these changes. This presentation will explore these issues in greater detail and explore options for community responses in the context of culture, creativity, placemaking and other community development strategies.
